Heartfelt vocals coalesce with a keen sense of imaginative storytelling, forming the backdrop to Emily Myers’ captivating Country/Americana sound. These visceral elements have been pivotal to Emily’s success, as she’s graced many stages across the U.S.
Emily's newest single, ‘Unwrite Every Song,’ was released on May 13, 2022 and is the title track to an EP that will follow later this year. This song questions if you would rather not have the negative experiences of heartbreak and grief in life even if it means there wouldn’t be inspiration for the songs written. It is a song that perfectly represents who Emily is in this season of writing and highlights both the detailed, hope-filled storytelling and the soaring vocals that define her music.
Emily Myers Top Six
What makes Nashville special to you? Nashville has been home long before I lived there. I wanted to move to Nashville since I was 15 and visited for the first time. The funniest thing was my first time I visited on a mission trip and it had nothing to do with music. But I think that is why the city remained so special me. I fell in love with the people first, the city second, and the fact it was a great city for my career was a bonus. After ten years of traveling back and forth for work, I finally made the move. People have asked me if the move was everything I thought it would be and I have said that was the best decision I have ever made. Looking back, I know now that I was not just pursuing a dream of living in Nashville, but I was creating a life. And I am grateful that is the life I am living today.
Most under-rated thing about Nashville? I think there is a lot more diversity in Nashville than people would expect. I have met incredible people from all over the world in Nashville! There is so much more music, food, and culture to experience than the traditional southern things that people think of in Nashville. I love the traditional southern parts of Nashville and I’ve enjoyed learning that there is more too!
How would you say your hometown of Jefferson City, MO differs from Nashville? Jefferson City and Nashville are more similar than people would expect. The landscape is very similar because I am from an area of Missouri that is actually filled with hills like Tennessee. The people also have a similar culture and are very inviting. I would say the main difference is that there is more traditional southern food here! And the music scene is Nashville can’t be beat. But I am glad it reminds me of home. It has made the transition very easy.
What are some of your favorite Nashville restaurants? I love Pearl Diver, Superica, Bishop’s, and Salvo’s! There are so many, but that is to name a few!
Is there a place you haven't ate you have been dying to go? I really want to check out this French restaurant called ‘Once Upon a Time in France.’ I’ve heard it’s really cool but the wait can be really long so I haven’t made the time yet!
If someone is coming to Nashville for the first time, where do you take them? I always take them to the Ryman if they have never been. I also make sure they try Loveless Cafe. I also want them to go to The Listening Room or a local writer’s round because no other town in the world recognizes the songwriter like Nashville does and it is important for tourists to see that side of the music industry.
One Thing About Nashville
How has Nashville influenced your music? Nashville has given me permission to be the artist I truly am. Before moving, you feel like you are on the outside looking in and you are trying to guess what the industry wants you to be. When you’re in the heart of it, you realize that everyone makes their art and their success their own way. And it is incredibly freeing! It has been an unexpected gift from living and working here.
Five Favorites
What’s your favorite place to go for ice cream in Nashville? Definitely Jeni’s! You can never go wrong there!
Do you have a favorite music venue? I love going to The Listening Room! I am a songwriter first and foremost and I am grateful for them to give songwriters a stage to share the stories behind the songs. I am making my debut at The Listening Room in Nashville on July 9th actually. It is a full circle moment to be playing my favorite stage in Nashville in just a few weeks!
Favorite place to go on date night? My boyfriend and I love going to a show at The Ryman for date night and eating at the American Food Hall before. If we’re doing something non-music related, then we love going to our favorite pizza place, Salvo’s!
Best place to grab a beer? I really love getting drinks at Pearl Diver in East Nash! Such a fun place!
Best Broadway bar? I absolutely love The Hampton Social on Broadway. It’s great for a girl’s night! I also love playing Tin Roof downtown or listening to music at Margaritaville.
