Sam Ferrara's Top Six
What makes Nashville special to you? What makes Nashville so special to me is that it’s a unique city full of opportunity and chance to figure out who you are as a person and as an artist. Honestly, there’s always something fun to find in the city of Nashville.
Most under-rated thing about Nashville? Okay, the most under-rated thing about Nashville is their parks! There are some beautiful parks to go hangout at and I don’t think people take advantage of them!
How would you say your hometown of Holbrook, NY differs from Nashville? My hometown of Holbrook, NY is different from Nashville by having the ocean. One of my favorite things to do is go sit at the beach and listen to the waves when writing songs and not having that easy access to the water is tough. Lakes are not the same as the ocean. Also the pizza and bagels (NY pizza and bagels are amazing!). It doesn’t compare here in Nashville.
Say you had a completely free day in Nashville—no work allowed. What would you be doing?
When I have a free day in Nashville, I first go workout at Cyclebar (it gets my day started), grab some coffee at a local coffee shop (doesn’t matter where, always up to try something different) and then I try to find something new about the city that I haven’t done. I honestly love exploring and when I find another hidden gem in the city, I try to enjoy it before everyone else does! Also, I’ll try to cook dinner at home when I have a day off (I love to cook!!)
What are some of your favorite Nashville restaurants? OH, this is TOUGH!!!! I’m Italian and it’s been super picky to find some good Italian places- Amerigo’s though is my favorite Italian place to go to! I also love Hawker’s in East Nashville (I went once and I’m also a big Chinese food junkie), Tailgate Brewery (for a quick bite and delicious beer) and Burger-Up have the best burgers in Nashville!
Of course we love your style, any favorite Nashville shops? My ultimate favorite shop is Altar’d State! They are only a shop found in the south and I love everything I get from there! I also love to shop local, anything I can find is pretty great!!!
One Thing About Nashville
What excites you most about the Nashville music scene right now? What excites me most about the music scene here in Nashville is that it is very versatile and unique!! It’s not all just “country” and I love that we can see new acts and different genres all over the city! You could see a rock band at the Basement East while seeing a pop act at the Ryman. It’s just a different and unique experience in a city focused around music where in my opinion, you can’t get that elsewhere! Just opens so many doors for opportunity!
Five Favorites
Do you have a favorite music venue? AH! This is also a super hard question- I am a big fan of the Schermerhorn! I treat myself to the Nashville Symphony every now and then and man, that is probably the most BEAUTIFUL venue on the planet! The acoustics are *Chief's Kiss*!!!
Favorite place to go on date night? WOW- I haven’t been on any dates to know, so I really don’t have an answer for you on that! But if I were taken on one- definitely one of the speakeasy’s!
What grocery stores do you shop? I’m a Costco freak! Costco forever!
Best Steak? Kayne Prime- HANDS DOWN! Wagyu steak is the BOMB!
Best Broadway bar? Bootleggers, Famous and Crossroads are my top three!
